Colette Curkan

Colette graduated from the University of Calgary Nursing program in 1998. First starting in Neurology, then moving into Child and Adolescent Mental Health at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. Colette’s passion for working with children and their families kept her working in a variety of roles, either front line or managerial, until she and her husband started a family in 2004, at which point in time, Colette took a brief hiatus. She maintained a casual role at the Children’s Hospital, although chose to do some teaching at Mount Royal College in 2006. In 2007, Colette took a position at the new South Calgary Health Center, as a mental health consultant in Urgent Care. In that role, Colette had the opportunity to work to full scope of practice, providing assessment services to persons of all ages and stages. Colette also worked casually at the South Health Campus, in the Adolescent Mental Health Unit.

In 2013, after seven years of living in the community of Langdon, Colette decided to apply for a position at the local medical clinic and was very fortunate to acquire a position as the Primary Care Nurse for the Langdon Medical Clinic. She feels incredibly blessed to have obtained this position and supports clients with a broad range of needs.

Colette is an avid volunteer in the community, on the board of the Langdon Community Association, President of the Langdon Community Garden Society and a member of the Langdon Community Collaboration. She is very dedicated to improving the quality of life of the residents of this community by decreasing barriers to access to services and amenities.
