The Cholesterol and Blood Pressure Classes focus on reducing your cardiovascular risk.

These classes last for three hours and are ran by a Registered Dietitian and a Primary Care Network Nurse.

 

Topics covered in this class will include:

  • What is artery disease, hypertension, and high cholesterol?
  • What are the risk factors for these conditions?
  • How do we reduce blood pressure and cholesterol levels?
  • Why is exercise important and what kind is beneficial?
  • Heart healthy eating and how to eat to lower your blood pressure
  • Portion sizes
  • Types of fat in diet
  • Role of fibre, and types of fibre
  • Reading food labels
  • Reducing salt in your diet
